The city of Balaguer is the capital of the Noguera region, it has an area of 57.40 square kilometers and is located in a natural transition zone between the Lleida plain and the Pre-Pyrenees. The city is crossed by the Segre river, which is born in France and flows into the Ebro at the height of Mequinenza.

It currently has 17,460 inhabitants, according to data from 2022, and is the third population in the province in terms of number of citizens. Regarding its situation, Balaguer limits to the west with Menàrguens; to the north with Gerb and Camarasa; to the east with the Sentiu de Sió and Vallfogona; and to the south with Térmens. The surroundings of the city are divided into orchards, which has been maintained since Andalusian times.
