Mar Coll is filming in Barcelona and other Catalan locations. Las madres no marks Coll's return to directing after Tots volem el millor per a ella (2013). After filming the series Killing the Father (2018) and the recent This is not Sweden (2023), Coll returns to the cinema. Las madres no is an intimate drama about a mother who regrets having a baby. The newcomer Laura Weissmahr is the protagonist with Oriol Pla. Giannina Fruttero and Belén Cruz complete the cast.

Coll herself has co-written this story with her usual co-writer, Valentina Viso, inspired by the novel of the same name by Katixa Agirre. Escándalo Films and Elastica Films are the producers.
